Oct. 3: Come to Engineering Night at the College of Lake County

Ever wonder what it takes to become an engineer? Curious as to what the profession entails? Come to the College of Lake County on Thursday, Oct. 3 to learn about careers in engineering and computer science and meet with representatives from multiple regional engineering schools. The event begins at 5:30 p.m., outside the Willow Café at the CLC Grayslake Campus.

Engineering Night is part of the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) Speaker Series, which is free and open to high school and CLC students and their parents. From 5:30-6:45 p.m., attendees will sign in outside the Willow Café and choose the breakout sessions they would like to attend. They also can mingle with professional engineers to learn about various professions including civil, electrical, mechanical, chemical, aerospace, computer science, etc. A presentation about a general overview of the search process for engineering colleges begins at 7 p.m.

From 7:30-9:30 p.m., students and their parents may visit classrooms for three 25-minute sessions to learn more about college and university engineering programs. The CLC Engineering Transfer program will be hosting sessions in the Baxter Innovation Lab (T120/121) and will include information on guaranteed admission partnerships with UIUC (Engineering Pathways), UIC, and NIU. Representatives from area universities include: Bradley University, University of Illinois-Chicago, Illinois Tech (IIT), Iowa State University, Northern Illinois University, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, UW-Milwaukee, Michigan Tech and Milwaukee School of Engineering.
