First Midwest Bank donates land for Soldier's Home Build
A Soldier's Journey Home, an all-volunteer 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, is proud to announce that First Midwest Bank has donated the land for the 2017 home build for U.S. Army Specialist Anthony Chobanov.
Tony served two tours of duty, one in Afghanistan and one in Iraq. Tony returned home with a traumatic brain injury along with post traumatic stress disorder. He currently lives in a rental home along with his wife, three children and the family dog, but that is about to change.
The 1.29-acre building lot donated by First Midwest Bank is located in Spring Grove Estates at 3610 Prairie Drive in Spring Grove, Illinois. John Wurth, a longtime resident of this single family home community, is excited to have new neighbors. "The Chobanov family will be a wonderful addition to our neighborhood," Wurth says.
First Midwest Bank has been involved in various housing projects for veterans including a 63-unit shelter for homeless veterans in Danville, Illinois, 6 homes were donated to a veterans organization in Gary, Indiana and a veterans shelter redevelopment in Manteno, Illinois. First Midwest Community Investment Manager Robert Sistek, along with Jim Roolf, president of Joliet Banking Center, and Mary Brown, vice president, were advocates in providing this land at no cost.
"We are grateful for the generosity of First Midwest Bank," says Project Manager Chuck Frankiewicz. "This beautiful lot will soon be transformed to a family home where the Chobanovs will grow and prosper."
Community involvement is instrumental to the success of the 2017 home build for SPC Anthony Chobanov. A Soldier's Journey Home looks forward to working with the community to provide this deserving soldier a comfortable, fully furnished, debt-free home. The organization will need donations of building materials, appliances, furniture, professional and nonprofessional labor, housing and food service for volunteers during the build and financial support.
