Ventrella pitches Lisle into sectional final

Lisle 4, Walther Lutheran 1:

In a game played in Lockport, the Lions (19-10) advanced to the Class 2A Benedictine University sectional final behind Alex Ventrella's 2-hitter with 12 strikeouts. Cliff Krause, Ventrella and Brian Czyl each had 2 hits as Lisle scored a run in every inning from the second through the fifth.

Neuqua Valley 4, Romeoville 0:

Cody Coll powered the Wildcats (26-9) to victory in the Class 4A Romeoville regional semifinals by striking out 11 and walking none in a 2-hitter. Mike Riesner went 2-for-3 while Dylan Goss and Matt Wollnik drove in runs.

Wheaton North 9, Addison Trail 0:

The Falcons (25-8) scored 5 runs in the second inning and 4 runs in the third to roll into the Class 4A Wheaton North regional final. Winning pitcher Doug Hayes allowed 2 hits and struck out seven. Lake Bachar went 3-for-4 while Cody Gregory drove in 2 runs. Jake Taschetta, Johnny Peltz and Greg Scandora had 2 hits apiece. Addison Trail closes the season at 11-25.

Glenbard South 18, Little Village 0:

The Raiders (19-10) easily advanced to the Class 3A Glenbard South regional final after scoring 7 runs in the first inning. Justin Joseph and Tony Tenuta had 3 hits apiece to account for a third of the Raiders' 18 hits. Nick Yangas pitched a 1-hitter with 10 strikeouts and a walk in 5 innings.

St. Francis 6, Plano 3:

Alex Alcantara and Jack Ciombor each had 2 hits and Jack Petrando drove in 2 runs for the Spartans (18-11) in their victory in the Class 3A Kaneland regional semifinals. Winning pitcher Jason Sullivan scattered 6 hits.

Downers South 8, Plainfield East 4:

Joe Becht's 2-run single in the bottom of the fourth inning put the Mustangs (29-6) ahead to stay in their Class 4A Hinsdale Central regional semifinal victory. Zack Burdi pitched 4 innings to earn the victory while Danny Mayer closed the game with three scoreless innings of relief.

Plainfield North 4, Naperville North 0:

The Huskies (16-12) saw their season end in the Class 4A Naperville Central regional semifinals after Plainfield North pitcher Zach Zyburt scattered 4 hits in a complete-game effort.
