Blue Kids Lake County Recognized

Blue Kids Lake County received Prevent Child Abuse Illinois' Community Award for the northern region. The plaque commends Blue Kids Lake County “for excellence in conducting an exemplary community campaign to increase public awareness and education about child abuse prevention”. To qualify, campaigns must: serve an Illinois community, have been held in the previous year and is being held in the current year, involve partners, include distribution materials, and include one or more special feature/event.

Conceived in 2011 and initiated last year, Blue Kids Lake County's core values are cherishing children, supporting families, and building strong communities. Co-chairs Laura Notson, Executive Director of the Lake County Children's Advocacy Center and Sally Foster, Family Violence Coordinating Council Coordinator, were presented with a plaque by Roy Harley, Executive Director of Prevent Child Abuse Illinois during a ceremony held on April 1st at the James R. Thompson Center in Chicago as part of Prevent Child Abuse Illinois's Child Abuse Prevention Month kick-off.

Blue Kids Lake County partners include many social service organizations in Lake County, as well as park districts, libraries, Exchange and Rotary Clubs, municipal and civic organizations and private citizens. The campaign includes providing community awareness, education, engagement and county-wide participation. Initiated by the Lake County Children's Advocacy Center and the Family Violence Coordinating Council, Blue Kids Lake County is a collaborative effort to increase the community's ability to protect our children.
