Fox Valley roundup: D-C wins

Dundee-Crown 72, McHenry 56: Dundee-Crown (12-4, 3-0) held onto a share of first place in the Valley Division of the Fox Valley Conference with a road win over the Warriors (8-9, 1-2). Seniors Jeff Beck (26 points) and Aaron Reams (16 points) paced the offense while Charles Kimbrough and Greg McNally each added 8 points for the Chargers.

"It's nice to win a ballgame on the road against a good McHenry team," D-C coach Lance Huber said.

Jacobs 53, Woodstock 44: Jacobs (17-2, 3-0) extended its overall winning streak to 15 and its Valley Division winning streak to 23 with this road win against the Blue Streaks (4-12, 1-2). Senior Conrad Krutwig scored 18 points, sophomore point guard Mike Peterson scored 12 points and junior Mike Barch added 10 points for the Golden Eagles, who led 26-22 at the half.

Crystal Lake South 49, Cary-Grove 34: CL South (11-8, 1-2) earned its first Valley Division victory of the season with a road win in Cary. Adam Olszewski led the Gators with 15 points and Alex Macauley posted 14 points. The loss was the fourth straight for Cary-Grove (11-9, 0-3), which didn't have a player crack double-digits in scoring for the second straight game. Ryan Barker led the Trojans with 7 points.

Huntley 55, Crystal Lake Central 38: Huntley (12-7, 2-1) got off to a fast start and cruised to its fifth victory in six outings against Fox Division rival CL Central (3-16, 0-3). The Red Raiders sank four 3-pointers in the first quarter to take a 14-4 lead and extended their advantage to 28-10 by halftime. Sophomore Tyler Brunchson paced Huntley with 13 points, Zac Boster had 1 points and Richard Gonzaga contributed 10 points in the win.

Sycamore 72, Burlington Central 60: Burlington Central (9-9, 3-3) trailed 39-32 at halftime and the Rockets couldn't catch up to the Spartans in a nonconference game in Sycamore between possible postseason opponents. Freshman Ray Hunnicutt led the Rockets with 17 points, junior Shane Larkin scored 11 and junior Matt McCurdy added 10 points.

Driscoll 61, St. Edward 60: St. Edward (6-14, 2-9) dropped its sixth straight Suburban Catholic Conference game despite 21 points from senior Josh Dix, who sank five 3-pointers in Addison. Riley Coleman added 11 points for the Green Wave.
