Take a Step for Kids: Day-of-event registration begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, April, Independence Grove Forest Preserve, 16400 W Buckley Road, Libertyville. Community Youth Network's 5K/10K Run and 5K Walk will raise money to help children and families who have been victims of abuse. Start time is 9 a.m. for runners, 9:15 a.m. for walkers. Registration is $30 on the day of the event. Advance registration is $25 through Thursday, April 16; register at takeastepforkids.org.

Shoreline Dance Club: 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, Gorton Community Center, 400 E. Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Couples can review basic Fox Trot steps and learn new ones.
