College of DuPage celebrates student academic excellence

The College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn recently hosted a Celebration of Academic Excellence, which recognized the 2017-18 Honors and Scholars award recipients.

Presidential Scholars

Students accepting the Presidential Scholars Award are required to pursue a degree or certificate; be enrolled in 15 credit hours per semester; complete a minimum of 15 semester hours of Honors courses, including an Honors seminar or Humanities 2210 Leadership Development course; and complete a designated Service Learning course or 20 hours of approved volunteer work within their first year of the scholarship.

To receive the Presidential Scholars Designation on their transcripts, students completing these requirements maintained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5/4.0 at COD.

They are: Arianne Alcoran, Marcela Calderon, Sam Cohn, Kyle Currence, Mary Farley, Theresa Giordano, Vanessa Hadweh Smith, Alexis Hohman, Max Hufnagle, Myla Kaiser, William Kolenda, Alexis Lee, Lauren Phegley, Stephanie Robinson, Owen Rogers, Anna Rubicz, Jessica Shubert, Madeleine Trinco, Sarah Volle, Jeffrey Weisenberger, Amber Wood and Andrew Young.

Board of Trustees and Deans Scholars

Students accepting the Board of Trustees or Deans Scholars Award are required to pursue a degree or certificate; be enrolled in 15 credit hours per semester; and complete a minimum of 15 semester hours of Honors courses, including an Honors seminar or Humanities 2210 Leadership Development course. To receive the Board of Trustees or Deans Scholars designation on their transcripts, students completing these requirements must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5/4.0 scale at COD.

They are: Nicholas Fugarino, Jonathan Gonzalez, Nadia Hussain, Riken Patel, Adrian Shemshedini.

Honors Scholars

Members of the Honors Scholars are students who have successfully completed a minimum of 15 semester hours of Honors courses, including an Honors seminar or the Humanities 2210 Leadership Development course. Students maintained a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.2/4.0 in order to receive Honors Scholars designations on their transcripts.

They are: Julissa Aquino, Velma Arrieta De Hernandez, Danette Bauer, Cameron Bilardello, Matthew Birkley, Alexandria Buck, Joshua Chesney, Daniela Diaz-Vazquez, Anna Gorman, Julianne Jankowski, Margo Jurkowski, Andrew Kim, Jakub Marek, Amtul Mateen Mariya, Janelle Oco, Paola Ortega, Deyna Parvanova, Michelle Perez Gallardo, Kiley Pooler, Susana Silva and Tanya Vargas.

2018 Honors Council of the Illinois Region Spring Student Symposium
