Sept. 23
Pasta Dinner Fundraiser: 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, Lake Zurich High School, 300 Church St., Lake Zurich. Past dinner to raise funds to assist the Lake Zurich High School Varsity and JV Cheerleaders in the 2009-10 season. Tickets are $5 per person in advance, and can be purchased through cheerleaders or held at the door by calling (847) 726-1103, or can be purchased at the door for $7 per person. The musical entertainment will be the LZHS Jazz Band followed by the Bear Voices choral group and the LZHS Blue Notes.

Scholarships Awards Gala: 6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, Country Squire, 19133 E. Belvidere Road, Grayslake. The Coalicion de Latinos Unidos de Lake County will host a gala to benefit Lake County students in their path toward higher education. The key note speaker will be Dr. Santos Rivera, Senior Executive Director Emeritus of Northeastern Illinois University. He will be followed by dinner and dance. Spaghetti Dinner: 4:30-7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, Our Lady of Humility School, 10655 Wadsworth Road, Beach Park. The Boy Scouts of America Troop 66 will serve home-cooked spaghetti with salad, garlic bread and more. All the money will go directly to the local troop. Tickets are available at the door for $7, or $5 for children and seniors; tickets are a dollar off if purchased in advance from a scout.

Race/Walk and Family Fun Day for Fibromyalgia: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 26, Lambs Farm, 14245 W. Rockland Road, Libertyville. Hosted by Advocates for Fibromyalgia Funding, Treatment, Education and Research. Events include a 5k race/walk, talent competition, prizes, food, vendors, raffles, petting zoo, train rides, giveaways and more. Friends of Steeple Chase Golf Outing: 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, Mundelein Park District's Steeple Chase Golf Club, 200 N. La Vista Drive, Mundelein. JDRF Fundraiser: 2-10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 26, 414 Red Cedar Road, Lake Villa. The third annual "AJ and Zach Say Go Away Diabetes" fundraiser. Financial workshops: "The Ins and Outs of Personal Bankruptcy" from 9-10:30 a.m. and "Mortgage Foreclosure Prevention: What You Need to Know" from 10:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 26, Warren Township Youth and Family Services, 17801 W. Eagle Relay: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, Lakes Community High School, 1600 Eagle Way, Lake Villa. The Lakes High School Chapter of National Honor Society will hold their annual Eagle Relay to support Kids Hope United. Participants can walk or run to raise money. It Can Be Done: Mondays and Tuesdays, Francesca's Intimo, 293 E Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Francesca's Intimo has agreed to donate 15 percent of patrons' bills to the nonprofit organization It Can Be Done! on Mondays and Tuesdays if the customer mentions the organization to a restaurant employee. The proceeds will benefit the purchasing of a drill to construct wells throughout the 12 villages of Uru on Mount Kilimanjaro, providing the 30,000 people living there with freshwater.
