Aug. 27

Mike Fontenot benefit signing: 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, Auction Merchandise Source, 1175 Corporate Woods Parkway, Vernon Hills. Chicago Cubs infielder Mike Fontenot will participate in an autograph session, with $5 of each $25 autograph benefiting Kids Hope United. Memorabilia will be available at signing for purchase. Aug. 29

Car wash fundraiser: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, Murphy School, 220 Greenwood St., Round Lake Park. A car wash will be held to raise money for Grayslake residents currently in the process of adopting two children from Ethiopia.

Parking Lot Benefit Party: 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, Moe's Southwest Grill, 21720 W. Long Grove Road, Deer Park. Spin the magic wheel for $1 and win prizes; all magic wheel proceeds and 20 percent of Moe's sales from 5-7 p.m. will go to Emmaus House of Hospitality to fight poverty and homelessness. Diabetes Scholars Foundation benefit: 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, Brunswick Zone Deer Park, 21080 N. Rand Road, Lake Zurich. Bowling and a silent auction to help provide scholarships for affected families to attend diabetes education conferences. $40 per person includes two games of bowling, shoe rental, pizza and soft drinks. Aug. 30

Jack Rizman Memorial Golf Outing: 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 30, Buffalo Grove Golf Club, 48 Raupp Boulevard, Buffalo Grove. The Men's Club of Congregation Beth Judea of Long Grove's annual golf outing. There will also be a dinner at 7 p.m. at Lou Malnati's, 85 S. Buffalo Grove Road, Buffalo Grove. Golf and dinner is $95 per person, $85 for golfers under 21; dinner only is $20 for adults and $5 for children. Proceeds will provide Jewish musical concerts and programs for Beth Judea and the local community. Bunco Night: 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, Libertyville Civic Center, 135 W. Church St., Libertyville. It Can Be Done: Mondays and Tuesdays, Francesca's Intimo, 293 E Illinois Road, Lake Forest. Francesca's Intimo has agreed to donate 15 percent of patrons' bills to the nonprofit organization It Can Be Done! on Mondays and Tuesdays if the customer mentions the organization to a restaurant employee. The proceeds will benefit the purchasing of a drill to construct wells throughout the 12 villages of Uru on Mount Kilimanjaro, providing the 30,000 people living there with freshwater.
