Sled hill fun

Mundelein Park District officials say the village's lighted sled hill will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily, provided there are at least three inches of snow. The hill is at Keith Mione Community Park on Midlothian Road between Route 176 and Winchester Road. Nonmetal sleds, tubes and saucers are permitted. Camp reservations accepted

Reservations for many of the Illinois Department of Natural Resources' most popular campsites, cabins, group campsites, and picnic shelters may be made by mail beginning Jan. 4 and in person or over the phone beginning Feb. 1. Reservations for can be made by mail only beginning Jan. 4. Reservation forms and instructions can be obtained through the IDNR Web site at dnr.state.il.us. Beginning Feb. 1, telephone and in-person reservations can be made using Visa and MasterCard. Reservations must be made at least seven days before the campsite is needed. CLC registration continues

Registration for the spring semester at the College of Lake County continues through Jan. 19. New student orientations will be offered from 8 a.m. to noon Jan. 5-7 at the Grayslake campus. Recent high school graduates who plan to earn an associate degree or certificate, or transfer to a four-year college or university, must attend an orientation session. Those sessions will not include a one-on-one adviser meeting or registration assistance. But new students may meet with an adviser and enroll in classes on their own after completing the orientation session.
