League of Women Voters teams up with DuPage County Clerk to introduce new voting equipment to the community
The League of Women Voters chapters serving DuPage communities are teaming up with the DuPage County Clerk's office to introduce the county's new voting system to the public at events throughout the county.
The Hart InterCivic Verity paper voting system will be rolled out for the 2022 Primary Election this June. DuPage is the first county to be using a complete 100-percent ballot printing for both Early Voting and Election Day voting, giving all voters the same voting experience.
The next-generation Verity system is made in the U.S. and was certified by Illinois this year as meeting the highest election security standards. Verity is never connected to the internet, making it impossible to hack.
The Verity Scan allows reliable audits of voter intent with digital captures of all scanned ballots. The system offers automatic counting for write-in votes, ranked choice voting capability, faster and reliable recounts, and multiple language options.
"We are excited to show the public the new state-of-the-art voting equipment and help DuPage County citizens vote with confidence," said Judy Beaver, president of the Wheaton League of Women Voters.
"The County Clerk's office looks forward to introducing our new voting system to the community," says DuPage County Clerk Jean Kaczmarek. "I thank the League of Women Voters for their enthusiasm and volunteerism to reach out to voters throughout DuPage County."
In addition to introducing the new voting system, League of Women Voters will also register eligible voters, provide nonpartisan information about the June 28 election and assist interested voters to apply for a Vote By Mail ballot or to become an election judge.
