DuPage County Workforce Innovation Board to host webinar on finding talent Aug. 20
On Friday, Aug. 20, the DuPage County Workforce Innovation Board will host a free online workshop on "Best Hiring Practices" with Barry Saltzman, chief operating officer of Aqueity, and Kate Wollensak, senior vice president, Chief Human Resources Officer of the YMCA of the USA. The webinar will be from 9 to 10 a.m.
Businesses of all sizes are invited to hear best practices and real-world case studies on how to improve the ability to source, hire, and retain employees.
The August webinar is the first in a new series of DuPage County WIB-led workshops to assist local businesses with today's challenge of finding and hiring talent.
In this first workshop companies will discover:
• "Recruiting Best Practices," including 10 tips on how to optimize the hiring process;
• "Interviewing for Success," including ideas on how to improve the interview process; questions; and assessments;
• "Case Study - YMCA" featuring Build, Buy and Borrow techniques.
It also will include a question-and-answer period.

About the speakers
Barry Saltzman is a senior executive with 30 years of experience in both public and private global companies. He has held leadership positions for Global 100 companies, innovative technology and service companies, industry leading distributors and software companies. As a hands-on leader throughout his career, he has been responsible for global sales, business development, leading and managing complex project teams, service delivery and as a CEO in a turnaround situation.
Kate Wollensak is currently the senior vice president, chief human resource officer for YMCA of the USA, the resource office for YMCAs across the country. She provides direction on workforce initiatives including, career development, succession planning, HR operations, total rewards and all initiatives that build a positive, supportive and inclusive work environment. She also serves as staff liaison to the Compensation Committee of the National Board of Directors. Prior to Y-USA, she was the vice president, human resources for the Alzheimer's Association. Her HR career also includes extreme change management in the manufacturing, service and consumer sectors for brands such as Morton Salt, PepsiCo, Berkshire Hathaway and SBC/Ameritech.
The DuPage County Workforce Innovation Board is a business-led policy and decision- making body created under the federal law called the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. All board members are appointed by DuPage County Board Chairman Daniel J. Cronin. The majority of the Workforce Board membership represents local business leaders in the community as well as representatives from economic development agencies, community-based organizations, education, organized labor and public assistance agencies.
