COD to host virtual conference on the needs of adult learners

Community college student and academic affairs professionals are invited to evaluate recruitment and retention efforts for the post-traditional market from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29.

Hosted by the College of DuPage Admissions department, the Illinois Post-Traditional Recruitment and Retention in Community College Virtual Conference will offer industry professionals emerging data and analysis on the adult market, industry best practices, ideas and information from other Illinois community colleges, and networking opportunities to help identify and create new recruitment and retention strategies.

"Local and national conferences have typically focused on the recruitment and retention of adult students in bachelor's or graduate institutions, so we are happy to focus on the unique needs of adult learners in the community college setting," said COD Adult Admissions representative Angela Nackovic.

Keynote speaker Carol Aslanian, president and founder of Aslanian Market Research, will capture and present data from two nationwide surveys focused on post-traditional and online college students. Aslanian has spent more than 30 years assisting colleges and universities across the country tailoring programs, services, outreach and marketing to better meet the needs of adult, post-traditional, online and other nontraditional segments of the higher education market.

During the event, experts from Kankakee Community College, Elgin Community College and Black Hawk College will explore unique and out-of-the-box ways to reach adults students through presentations and a round table discussion.
