Chicago Northwest Suburban Alumnae Panhellenic Awards Scholarships

Chicago Northwest Suburban Alumnae Panhellenic honored six young ladies from the Northwest suburbs with $1,500 scholarships on April 26, at the Cotillon in Palatine. The recipients were: Danielle Allaire of Buffalo Grove High School, Rebecca Kendeigh of Cary Grove High School, Kathleen McManus of Fremd High School, Sydney Shadrick of Lake Zurich, Jennifer Sobkowiak and Michele Marvin of Palatine High School.

Each year, the Chicago Northwest Suburban Alumnae Panhellenic is also committed to providing scholarships for previous applicants and winners of the high school scholarships from the last two years.

Prior applicants and winners must be a member of good standing in a sorority to be eligible. Each of these women received a $500 scholarship.

The five Collegiate Scholarships were awarded to the following: Catherine Demaut, Clemson University, Pi Beta Phi; Meghan Gilhooly, University of Alabama, Pi Beta Phi; Jasmine Mirabelli, Loyola University, Alpha Chi Omega; Carolyn Mersbach, University of North Carolina, Delta Delta Delta; and Natalie Pfister, University of Illinois, Alpha Omicron Pi.

The 2017 Athena Award which recognizes sorority women who have demonstrated excellence in leadership through their professional community and cultural involvement was awarded to Jane Russell, a member of the Alpha Phi sorority.

The 2017 CNWSAP Panhellenic Outstanding Alumnae was Deb Keyes, chairwoman of the scholarship banquet and a member of Alpha Xi Delta.

The 2017 Outstanding Alumnae from each sorority were: Alpha Delta Pi, Liz Bernardi; Alpha Gamma Delta, Jacqueline Holzmann Dreyer; Alpha Phi, Kathy Gerlach; Alpha Omicron Pi, Christi Humm; Alpha Sigma Alpha, Chris Johnson; Delta Gamma, Pat Landes; Gamma Phi Beta, Suzan Culver; Kappa Delta, Dorothy Portiera; Kappa Kappa Gamma, Darcy Bowe; Pi Beta Phi, Lindsay Daudelin; Sigma Kappa, Eloise Haverland; Sigma Sigma Sigma, Kay Beaty; and Zeta Tau Alpha, Barb Hague.
