Community Walk for Breast Cancer to take place Sat. Oct. 5
Please join us for the Community Walk for Breast Cancer, which will take place on Saturday, October 5 in McHenry. This event began in 2007, and raises money for the Avon Foundation for Breast Cancer, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing funds for research & treatment programs for ALL women, regardless of ability to pay. Since 2003, the Avon Foundation has raised more than $472 million dollars in the fight against breast cancer; more than 80% of the funds stay in the local communities.
The Walk will begin & end at Fort McHenry Park, located at the corner of Rt. 120 and Front Royal Drive (the entrance to the Whispering Oaks subdivision). Registration begins at 9:30am, with the Walk kicking off at 10am. Participants will enjoy a 3-mile stroll though some beautiful sunny & shady McHenry neighborhoods. The route is stroller friendly, and the participation of children of all ages is encouraged!
There is no entry fee to walk, but walkers are encouraged to collect pledges from family & friends (per mile or per step?) or to make a personal donation. Please remember: this is a fundraiser!
