COD's 'Images' highlights Sally Fairbank, Cleve Carney Donation

“Images,” College of DuPage's monthly one-half hour television show, features in its August/September edition segments on the 2011-2012 Overall Outstanding Faculty Member Sally Fairbank and on Cleve Carney, a local arts patron whose generous seven-figure donation enables construction of a new art gallery at the McAninch Arts Center.

Each month, Images highlights the personalities, news and curriculum of a vibrant College of DuPage campus. The show airs on 13 area cable television stations.

The August/September edition highlights Sally N. Fairbank, professor and coordinator of Paralegal Studies at the College, who has been named the Overall Outstanding Faculty Member for 2011-2012. Since the program's inception at College of DuPage, Fairbank has been instrumental in building its success, growing enrollment from 25 initial students to 219 full- and part-time students in spring 2012.

Under her guidance, the program received approval from the American Bar Association, a recognized leader in evaluating paralegal education programs and granting approval to programs that meet its rigorous guidelines.

This month's edition also features a segment on DuPage County native and Glen Ellyn resident Cleve Carney, who has provided a seven-figure gift to the College of DuPage Foundation that will create an arts legacy for the community.

The gift will be used to establish the Cleve Carney Art Space in the McAninch Arts Center and the Cleve Carney Art Space Endowment Fund, which will support the exhibition of contemporary art in the new space and provide funding to purchase artwork for the College of DuPage Permanent Art Collection. The gift consists of a $700,000 donation and a gift in kind of artwork. The total amount exceeds $1 million.

Also featured is a segment on the numerous academic programs that train and use classroom space in the College's new state-of-the-art Homeland Security Education Center. This 66,000-square-foot facility houses the Criminal Justice and Fire Science/EMS programs, the College's Police Department and the Suburban Law Enforcement Academy and features: a full-scale indoor street scene for force-on-force exercises; forensics and cybercrimes labs; a command center designed to instruct National Incident Management System protocols; a smoke room with moveable walls for EMS, fire rescue simulations; and an outdoor scaling and rappelling tower, and a full-size ambulance.

Images airs at various times on cable television stations in Downers Grove, Wheaton, Addison, Elmhurst, Glen Ellyn, Naperville, Glendale Heights, Bartlett, Lemont, Elk Grove, Darien, Aurora and West Chicago. Check local cable listings for times and channels.
