Donate school supplies for the needy with HSP

The Humanitarian Service Project (HSP) of DuPage County is calling out to the public to donate necessary school supplies for our fight to help alleviate the pain for those suffering from poverty. For the upcoming start to the 2012-2013 school year, we wish to supply over 5,000 children with a wide array of various school supplies: pens, pencils, highlighters, rulers, folders, notebooks, crayons, backpacks and many more.

The collected supplies will be distributed to needy families at the 2012 Back-to-School Fair hosted by the DuPage Regional Office of Education. The fair's goal is to help out families in need of services and supplies with the availability to supply children with the necessary items for back to school.

Given the nature of recent economic turnovers, the need for donations is widely appreciated.

This event will be held on August 8th at the DuPage County Fairgrounds. HSP participates in this fair alongside numerous of non-profits including Catholic Charities.

Additionally HSP will be receiving donations of school supplies as late as October. Anyone who would be interested please contact HSP at:

About The Humanitarian Service Project

HSP's mission is to alleviate the pain and suffering that poverty creates in seniors and children living in DuPage and Kane Counties, Illinois. Last year during the Christmas Offering, 1,600 children received gifts and 100 impoverished families received three weeks of groceries, frozen meats, and fresh produce. With the Senior Citizen Project, HSP provides monthly food deliveries of 90 pounds including fresh produce, frozen meats, non-perishables, paper products and secret pal gifts to 120 low-income seniors. The Children's Birthday Project reaches the youngest underprivileged, making birthdays and Christmas truly memorable occasions for 900 children. Feed the Kids program provides 100 low-income families with groceries and fresh produce. HSP conducts an annual school supplies drive, which sends supplies to the DuPage Back to School Fair in addition to furnishing schools and individual children with necessary supplies.
