COD Library offers online SOS workshops this summer
The Library at College of DuPage is offering several free online SOS Workshops this summer for students, staff and community members.
The free workshops are designed to give participants an overview of topics to help with research, social networking tools and library resources.
How to Avoid Plagiarism is offered 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 14.
Participants learn about safeguards to prevent plagiarism and have the opportunity to use SafeAssign, a plagiarism prevention service.
Research Basics: The Research Process is offered 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, and 1 to 2:30 p.m. Monday, July 9. This beginner workshop highlights the basics of library research. Participants learn to navigate the COD Library and find books and articles on various topics.
You're the Boss of Google: Using Google for Research is offered 3 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 19. Participants learn about four Google tools to help with specialized searches.
APA Citing & Paper Formatting is offered 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 20. Participants learn the basics of citing sources and formatting papers in the American Psychological Association's style.
Building Websites with WordPress is offered 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 20. Participants learn to quickly build professional websites using WordPress.com, one of the world's most popular and useful free (wrong font) website building tools.
Finding & Evaluating Information is offered 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday, June 21. Participants learn to use the COD Library catalog and databases to find resources for research projects.
Introduction to the COD Library is offered 2 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 26. Participants learn to find books, videos, CDs and more in the Library's collection; how to find materials in the Library; how to get a Library card and the benefits of having one; where to look for periodical articles and much more.
How to Find Company Information is offered 11 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 27. Participants learn to find public company profiles, financial information and details about competitors.
Twitter: Not Just for Celebrities is offered noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 28.
Participants learn to set up and use a Twitter account.
Introduction to Google Docs is offered 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday, July 18. Participants learn to use Google Docs in lieu of other word processing, presentation and spreadsheet software.
