Advocate Condell, Libertyville Dist. 70 partner on Student Art Showcase

The hallways at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville are a bit brighter now, thanks to a partnership between the hospital and Libertyville Elementary District 70.

The artwork of five district students was installed and unveiled last week in a high-traffic spot off the hospital's Main Lobby. As part of an ongoing program, the work of five students will be displayed, with the art changing three times a year, so that many students will have a chance to be in the spotlight.

"We are very happy to have this beautiful artwork grace our halls," said Advocate Condell Vice President of Operations David Cemate. "This certainly will be a boost to our patients, visitors and staff. We thank the students for their talent and their artwork."

The artists, along with their parents and teachers, and District 70 and hospital administrators, were invited for a short celebration and to see their work on display. Students chosen by their art teachers for the first installation were Rebecca Garcia-Stam, Elle Imm, Amelia Bertaud, Natalie Smith and Jack Nicholson.

"The best part is that so many people will get to see it!" said Smith, who is 10 and a student at Adler Park School in Libertyville.

District 70 Superintendent Guy Schumacher also was on hand for the reception. The beautiful work, he said, is the result of a love of art instilled by teachers and parents.

"It becomes something beautiful and something to present," said Schumacher. "We're extraordinarily grateful for this long-term relationship."
