McAninch Arts Center gets $15,000 SchoolStage grant
The DuPage Community Foundation has awarded the College of DuPage Foundation a grant for $15,000 to help support the FY 2012 McAninch Arts Center SchoolStage program. This grant was made possible with the earnings from the Cleve E. Carney Fund.
The MAC's SchoolStage Series is a collection of curriculum-based performances targeted to students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade.
The series is in place to encourage a connection between artists and students through live performances; foster learning and communication; assist with the understanding of other subjects such as math, science, language arts and geography; nurture inventiveness and the development of self-esteem, self-discipline, cooperation and self-motivation; and develop creative problem-solving skills.
In addition, the MAC provides a comprehensive study guide for each SchoolStage performance with curriculum-based activities for teachers to incorporate into their classrooms.
The DuPage Community Foundation was created in 1986 to benefit the residents of DuPage County. The foundation receives contributions and bequests into a permanent endowment that continues to grow and help meet the needs of its community.
Foundation grants are made to tax-exempt, not-for-profit organizations serving the residents of DuPage County. Funds are also allocated to support special programs designed to enhance the quality of life in DuPage County.
Foundation grants support a broad range of agencies and organizations and have traditionally been made in five primary categories, including Arts & Culture, Education, Environment, Health, and Human Services.
