ID theft seminars for seniors:

Republican state Rep. Kent Gaffney of Lake Barrington will host events featuring experts in the field of identity theft from the attorney general’s office to provide information on how people nearing or in retirement can protect themselves from financial predatory schemes. The Silver Beat events will be Monday in House District 52 and are open to public. The schedule is: 10 a.m. to noon at Barrington Park District, 235 Lions Drive, Barrington: 1 to 3 p.m. at Algonquin Township office, 3702 Northwest Hwy., Crystal Lake. “Too often scam artists perceive senior citizens as vulnerable and wealthy due to the ability to access retirement finances, and are thus targeted at a higher rate,” Gaffney said.
