Flamenco dance troupe puts on 'Gypsy Fire' Oct. 9

Compañia Flamenca José Porcel presents “Gypsy Fire” at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, on the Mainstage of the McAninch Arts Center at College of DuPage, 425 Fawell Blvd. in Glen Ellyn.

One of the premier flamenco dance troupes, Compañia Flamenca exudes fiery athleticism with old-world style. This enigmatic group, founded by acclaimed dancer José Porcel, presents the pure, traditional flamenco of Andalusia, preserving the style and form of the dance.

This highly-praised ensemble has toured extensively, bringing their unique style to audiences around the world.

The Oct. 9 program includes ten diverse works, representing various styles of the region, including tangos, seguiriya, rumba and tientos.

Tickets to “Gypsy Fire” are $46 for adults, $44 for seniors and $36 for College of DuPage students and youth.
