Houda fans 15 as Lisle rolls

Bekka Houda struck out 15 batters and visiting Lisle pounded out 14 hits in a 12-1 rout of defending Class 2A champion Coal City on Monday. Mackenzie Buchelt went 3-for-5 with a double, 3 runs scored and 2 runs batted in and Grace Riley went 3-for-5 with 3 RBI and scored a run for Lisle (6-0, 1-0 Interstate Eight Conference), who led 8-0 after two innings.

Stephanie Loconsole also went 3-for-5 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI and freshman leadoff hitter Summer Stitt walked 4 times, was hit once and scored twice for Lisle, who hosts Coal City today.

Naperville North 3, St. Charles East 2:Kendall Vassar singled in Caitlyn Warren with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, rallying the Huskies in Naperville.St. Charles East had grabbed a 2-1 lead in the top of the eighth on Rae Anne Payleitner#146;s solo homer. Sammy Marshall reached on an infield hit with out in the Huskies eighth, moved to second on a sacrifice and scored on Warren#146;s single. Vassar and Tara Degl#146;Innocenti both went 2-for-3 with a run batted in for Naperville North (4-2).Benet 3, Plainfield East 2:Kendall Duffy was hit by a pitch on an 0-2 count with the bases loaded and two outs in the bottom of the sixth, forcing in the eventual winning run. Benet (10-3) trailed 2-1 going into the sixth, before pinch-hitter Tracy Griffin doubled in the tying run. Winning pitcher Allyson Staats (9-3) struck out six.Batavia 3, Neuqua Valley 2:Katie Ryan#146;s two-out, two-run home run in the top of the seventh, her second homer of the game, sunk the Wildcats in Naperville. Brooke Meyer went 2-for-3 with a triple and RBI and Leigh Nebendahl had a triple and RBI for Neuqua (4-1, 2-1 Upstate Eight), which scored both its runs in the first. Ryan went 3-for-4 for Batavia (8-0, 4-0).West Chicago 9, Burlington Central 0:Mary Connolly (5-3) struck out 10 in a 2-hit shutout in West Chicago. Connolly also went 2-for-2 and scored 2 runs, Tarah Rayos tripled twice with an RBI and run scored, Jessica Wood was 2-for-2 with 2 RBI and a run scored and Morgan Dastych tripled and scored twice for West Chicago (6-5).Immaculate Conception 9, Montini 8:Briana Iosco#146;s towering homer to deep center with two outs in the top of the sixth completed a Knights comeback in a Suburban Christian Conference crossover game in Lombard. IC trailed 8-4 after four innings, before Maria Kieliszewski#146;s line-drive 2-run homer in the fifth. Jenn Clementi#146;s RBI double scored Gabbi Davis to tie it for IC (5-6, 2-0), who won its fourth straight.Wheaton Academy 12, St. Edward 5:Bekah Heubner slugged 2 homers and drove in 6 runs and Marissa Gagliano was 4-for-4 with a homer, 2 doubles, 4 runs scored and a walk for the Warriors (4-4, 2-1), who won its first Suburban Christian Conference crossover game since joining the league last year.St. Francis 14, Aurora Central 0:Taylor Ronchetto (6-2) and Laura Behnke combined on a no-hitter for the Spartans. Bri Pasquale homered and drove in 4 runs and Paige Davis also went deep for St. Francis.Lake Park 6, Glenbard West 2:Shannon Fritsche hit a leadoff homer in the bottom of the first, and Stephanie Starr had a 2-run single in a 4-run Lancers third in Roselle. Sarah Koch went 3-for-4 and scored a run and Tara Palandri was 2-for-2 and scored 2 runs for Lake Park (3-6), who snapped Glenbard West#146;s (6-2) five-game winning streak.Elgin 3, Downers Grove South 1:Jennah Perryman#146;s solo homer in the sixth inning tied it and Hannah Perryman hit a two-out, two-run shot in the seventh for Elgin in Downers Grove. Danielle Trezzo hit a solo homer and Marissa Mersch was 2-for-3 for the Mustangs (6-4).Lyons Twp. 5, WW South 4:Sarah Skurla smacked her second double of the game and scored on Hannah Granger#146;s single in the bottom of the seventh to force extra innings, but Lyons scored once in the ninth to win in Wheaton. Bekah Munday slugged a 3-run homer in the fifth for WW South (10-6).IMSA 3, Timothy Christian 2:Marisa Voss was 2-for-3 with a walk for the Trojans.
