Glenbard South's Rheault throws 1-hit shutout

Glenbard South pitcher Dylan Rheault continued his strong start, throwing a 1-hitter to lead the visiting Raiders to a 1-0 Western Sun Conference victory over Kaneland.

Rheault struck out 13 while walking 2 Knights over 7 innings for Glenbard South (10-4, 5-0). Jake Tickle got the lone hit, a double, for Kaneland (7-8, 1-4). Nick Slezak went 2-2 for Glenbard South, but it was senior Brandon Phillips' solo home run in the top of the third off hard-luck losing pitcher Bobby Thorson that was the difference.

Neuqua Valley 12, Lake Park 2: Neuqua Valley's Mike Gerber drove in 3 runs on a double and a home run to deal Lake Park its first Upstate Eight Conference loss. Kevin Clendening earned the 5-inning victory for Neuqua Valley (5-3, 2-2); Trevor Koehn (1-2) took the loss. Lake Park, with Garrett Gajewski going 2-for-3, fell to 9-2, 3-1.

Naperville North 8, Glenbard North 6: Kyle Khoury slugged a double and a home run and visiting Naperville North (9-2, 2-1) added home runs from Matt LaCosse and Jack Krejci to win the DuPage Valley Conference game in Carol Stream. Jake Kline went 3-for-4 and Jordan Hanlon (3-1) lost for the first time this spring for Glenbard North (8-5, 1-2).

Naperville Central 7, West Aurora 2: Naperville Central (11-1, 3-0) completed the three-game DuPage Valley Conference sweep in Naperville. Bobby Czarnowski, Shane Conlon and Mason Hallett each drove in runs with multiple hits and Marc Mantucca (2-0) pitched 4 innings for the win over West Aurora (2-10, 0-3).

WW South 13, Glenbard East 7: Kyle Snow went 3-for-4 with 3 RBI in the visiting Tigers' (9-5, 3-0) win in the DuPage Valley Conference. Jeremy Rhoades went 2-for-2 and Joe Tedeschi doubled with 2 RBI in Rhoades' (2-1) victory on the mound. Sean Little's 3-run home run in the sixth pulled Glenbard East within 2, but WW South reliever Steve Lemm held on to record his first save.

Fenton 4, Elmwood Park 1: In the Metro Suburban Conference, Matt Swartz's 2-out, 2-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning made a winner out of David Savoia (2-0). The Bison's John Zalecki went 2-for-3 and Richie Rebmann came on in the seventh to earn his fifth save for Fenton (5-5, 1-0).
