American Society for Quality: 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, Arboretum Club, 401 W. Half Day Road, Buffalo Grove. The Northeastern Illinois Section of the American Society for Quality will meet, beginning with a management review, followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the annual business meeting at 7:30 p.m. Meetings are free, and this month the meal is free to members and their guests. Historical Society meeting: 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, Grant Hall Museum, 411 Washington St., Ingleside. The Fox Lake-Grant Township Area Historical Society will meet, with the topic "Chamber of Commerce Centennial." Lake County Art League: 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 19 at State Bank of the Lakes community room on Commerce and Center streets in Grayslake. The Burlington Genealogical Society will hold their annual Pot Luck meal and Recipe Swap. Bring a family favorite or traditional family dish or dessert along with the recipe. The Aviva/Lilah Group of Hadassah North Shore Chapter will hold a fundraising dinner with a murder mystery program presented by the Saint Sebastian Players of Chicago. American Legion Auxiliary: Entries are due by Feb. 6. The American Legion Auxiliary is taking entries to join the Americanism Essay contest titled, "Where are the American Heroes of Today." Lake County Radio Control Club: 9 p.m. to midnight, Fridays, Field House Sports & Fitness Center 800 N Baldwin Ave, Waukegan. During winter, the club flies model airplanes, helicopters and other radio controlled devices in the 40,000 square foot indoor venue. The fee for flying on Fridays is $10 per person and you and an Academy of Model Aeronautics card from the club is necessary. Indoor flying will take place through the end of March and possibly longer depending on the weather.
