CL South wins tournament

Woodstock Northern Illinois Holiday Classic: Holding Woodstock to 16 points in the second half, Crystal Lake South (13-2) defeated the Blue Streaks 63-39. Michelle Gaede led the Gators with 17 points. Katie Burton (11 points), Caitlin Mize (10 points), and Jenny Hanrahan (8 points) helped contribute to the victory. "We played well as a team, executing the offense," said Crystal Lake South Coach Kyle McCaughn. "I am proud of the defensive effort."... Crystal Lake South then went on to beat Wauconda 47-39 for the championship. Mize led all scorers with 13 points, while Burton finished with 10 points. Carly Juliano scored 9 points and pulled down 8 rebounds. "It took all the kids to make that happen. It was a good team win," said McCaughn...Burlington Central (6-8) came out on top of Marian Central 46-41. Jordan Maisto had a game-high 15 points for the Rockets, while Taylor Colby (11 points) and Alli Settanni (9 points) also helped lead the Rockets to victory...Burlington Central then defeated Lakes 51-42. Colby led all scorers with 21 points. Settanni (12 points) and Maisto (10 points) also added to the Rocket offense.

Oswego East Holiday Tournament: Holding Addiston Trail to single-digit scoring 3 of 4 quarter, South Elgin (9-5) walked away with an easy 51-24 victory. With 13 points, Becca Smith led the Storm offense followed by Dijon Smith ( 11 points) and Genevieve Johnson (10 points). Larkin lost to Plainfield Central 54-52.

Mundelein Lady Mustangs Holiday Classic: Cary-Grove (10-2) took the lead 43-26 at halftime and never looked back, defeating Glenbrook North 76-48. Claire Jakubicek led the Trojans with 14 points. Meg Straumann and Tori Sandstrom contributed 9 points apiece, while Liz Bart and Lizzy Dyrek each added 7 points...Waukegan defeated Streamwood (4-7) during tournament action Monday. Emma Schmidt led the Sabres with 12 points. Amanda Patterson and Kim Hotovy added 10 points apiece...Despite the efforts of Kadie Lowery, Huntley (6-5) was defeated by Grant 48-43. Lowery tied her career-high with 24 points, and Allyson Stellmach contributed 9 points.

Bill Neibch Falcon Classic: The Elgin Maroons (3-7) were tied at halftime but suffered a loss to Lyons Township 44-42. Ellen Holton led the Maroons with 11 points. Right behind her was Caris Alan with 10 points. Brandy Hernandez (8 points) and Evelyn Boje (7 points) also led the offense for Elgin.
