Scouting: DuPage Co. Week 3

Glenbard East (2-0, 0-0) at Naperville North (2-0, 0-0)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit: The Rams seek their first 3-0 start since 1999 - their last playoff appearance. Can they slow a devastating North offense that could return quarterback Matt Manade?

West Chicago (1-1, 0-0) at WW South (2-0, 0-0)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit: Chris Jackson, who rushed for 120 yards, and West Chicago traded shots in a loss to Batavia. WW South quarterback Joe Furco will look to exploit the Wildcats' struggling pass defense.

Waterford, Wis. (1-1) at Fenton (1-1)

Game time: 7 p.m. today.

The quick hit: Wing T, Wishbone, Pro I... it's all about power running for Waterford. Fenton's line didn't allow a sack last week thanks to linemen Francisco Ochoa, Benji Sciullo and Mike Nolte.

Addison Trail (0-2, 0-0) at Morton (1-1, 0-0)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit: The Blazers got a 77-yard touchdown run from Mike D'Ambrose to start last week's game, but they fell to Downers North. Morton broke a 19-game losing streak with an opening win.

Willowbrook (0-2, 0-0) at Proviso East (1-1, 0-0)

Game time: 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The quick hit: Brian Monette's shoulder injury limits him at QB - Brad Collins may fill in - but he'll play DB for Willowbrook. Proviso East and big-play machine Corey Cooper stunned Lyons last week.

Leyden (1-1, 0-0) at Hinsdale South (0-2, 0-0)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today.

The quick hit: Hinsdale South looks to build upon the efforts of Karl Ploger on offense and Rob Folkerts on defense. Seven fumbles vs. Proviso West (two in the red zone) dampened 190 rush yards.

St. Joseph (2-0, 0-0) at Benet (0-2, 0-0)

Game time: 7:30 p.m., today, at Benedictine University.

The quick hit: St. Joseph has laid to rest its 45-game losing streak, but this would be a disappointment if Benet allowed a third straight win. The Redwings played Montini tough, but the ground game has to improve.

Wheaton Academy (0-2, 0-0) at Luther South (1-1, 0-0)

Game time: 1 p.m. Saturday.

The quick hit: This is a game Wheaton Academy must win for any playoff hope. The line is getting tougher, but the Warriors can't allow pass-happy Luther South to hurt them deep. And 14 penalties makes it hard to win.

Aurora Central (0-2, 0-0) at Montini (2-0, 0-0)

Game time: 1 p.m. Saturday.

The quick hit: Like Tom DiCristina, Aurora Central's Mike Adams is a talent. But Montini's quarterback gets more help. Watch for Broncos backs Brendan Shannon and Matt Sloan while tackle Bob Pinter hems Adams in.

St. Edward (2-0, 0-0) at Immaculate Conception (1-1, 0-0)

Game time: 1 p.m. Saturday.

The quick hit: St. Edward and IC both pounds the ball behind a line averaging 250 pounds. IC's Paul Hornstra seeks a third straight 100-yard game, two straight by Carlos Rodriguez, who had 160 yards, 2 TDs in a half.

Waubonsie Valley (0-2, 0-0) at St. Charles East (1-1, 0-0)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today

The quick hit: "Eliminate mistakes" was Waubonsie coach Paul Murphy's mantra before this game in 2007. It holds true again. This pits the ground attack of Saints' Wes Allen vs. the passing talents of the Warriors' Tyler Castro.

Proviso West (2-0, 0-0) at York (2-0, 0-0)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today

The quick hit: Athletic Proviso West has beaten Stagg, Hinsdale South, but York has comeback mojo. Last week 2 Dale Lewis fumble recoveries and quarterback Tom Judge's fourth-and-21 conversion paced a 15-point rally.

Hinsdale Central (1-1, 0-0) at Lyons Twp. (0-2, 0-0)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today

The quick hit: A 20-14 loss to Proviso East indicates Lyons is in fact down. Hinsdale Central is known for scrambling quarterback John Whitelaw, of course, but back Rich Zajeski has run for 100 yards in each game.

Oak Park (1-1, 0-0) at Glenbard West (2-0, 0-0)

Game time: 1:30 p.m. Saturday.

The quick hit: Oak Park quarterback Elliot Davidson accounted for 286 yards, 3 TDs vs. Willowbrook, but Glenbard West's Garrett Richards, Theo Odom, Kyle Krumwiede and Co. have allowed 44 yards rushing so far.

Downers Grove South (0-2) at Downers Grove North (1-1)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today

The quick hit: The cross-town rival should inspire Downers South to just finish. The best way to limit DGS back Scottie Williams is ball control. Last week ago North got it: 273 yards rushing, 126 by Joe Tokarski.

Lisle (1-1) at Peotone (1-1)

Game time: 7:30 p.m. today

The quick hit: Interstate Eight Conference crossover Peotone lost 41-0 to Wilmington, while Lisle allowed 4A semifinalist Coal City 140 yards in a 12-7 Lions win. Tackle Tony Kisla and Dave Pawlowicz (2 picks) shined on defense.
