ECC's entrepreneurship students to host ECC Spartan Small Business Expo May 5

Elgin Community College students from ECC's entrepreneurship program will host the Spartan Small Business Expo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 5, in Building E, on the college's Spartan Drive campus located at 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin.

The event, which is free and open to the public, offers the community a venue to purchase products and services from local vendors, while providing a platform to support small businesses and entrepreneurs within ECC's district.

Area high school and college students are encouraged to engage with small business owners and entrepreneurs at the event to begin building valuable business relationships and to learn how they might help a small business grow through either internships or employment.

Participating small business owners have been asked to share career-building opportunities with students, including job shadowing, networking, and mentoring.

ECC students have worked with the college's entrepreneurship program and members of its advisory committee to organize an event that will be mutually beneficial to students and vendors.

Spartan Project is ECC's student organization for those who are serious about starting their own businesses or who want to learn about the entrepreneurial mindset. The purpose of this organization includes sponsoring events that bring together entrepreneurs, budding entrepreneurs, and small-business owners to foster an entrepreneurial mindset on campus and throughout the district.
