ChildServ honors Wespath for impacting children at risk

Chicago, Ill. - February 23, 2018 - ChildServ, a nonprofit in Chicago dedicated to building better lives for children, honored Wespath for impacting at-risk children with its investment efforts at the organization's Legacy Banquet on February 11, in Elk Grove Village.

"Wespath's commitment to investing in at-risk communities has both affected positive change around the world and built better lives for children and families in Chicagoland," said Dan Kotowski, President and CEO of ChildServ. "For the past decade, ChildServ and Wespath have enjoyed a growing partnership, and we are proud to honor Wespath for its work to impact people and promote good in the world."

"Wespath is honored to receive this award from ChildServ, in recognition of the work we do to make a difference in the lives of children and families-locally, nationally and across the globe," said Wespath General Secretary Barbara Boigegrain. "In addition to our shared Methodist roots, both ChildServ and Wespath share a commitment to serving others."

Wespath, formerly known as the General Board of Pension and Health Benefits of The United Methodist Church, has, since 1908, cared for and managed the retirement and health benefits of the denomination's more than 100,000 active and retired clergy, lay employees and their families. Wespath's investments aim to promote "good" in the world. The Positive Social Purpose Lending Program helps individuals and communities worldwide, supporting affordable housing, schools, health centers, seniors, social services and job opportunities. Last year alone, Wespath invested nearly $87 million to help create or preserve 3,100 affordable housing units across 19 states.

ChildServ's Legacy Banquet, held at Avalon Banquets in Elk Grove Village, featured the presentation of the Lucy Rider Meyer Courage Award to Wespath, as well as keynote speaker Reverend Dr. Janet Wolf, Director of Children's Defense Fund's Haley Farm and Nonviolent Organizing.
