Spots Available For The 2018 Bank Of America Chicago Marathon

SALUTE, INC., a nonprofit organization that helps bridge temporary income gaps to allow veteran service members to manage their transition back into our community, announced this week that there are still a few spots available on TEAM SALUTE for the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.

Though the official application window has closed for the October 7 race, TEAM SALUTE has Charity Guaranteed entries still available. In addition to getting guaranteed entry to the marathon (a $195 value), participants who run with TEAM SALUTE will also receive race day hospitality at the Hilton Chicago near the start and finish lines, VIP gear check, pre- and post-race food, indoor bathrooms, a post-race massage, branded team swag and a team picture.

"TEAM SALUTE Athletes help raise the necessary funds to support our clients while pursuing their own personal athletic goals," said Sue Hussey, the TEAM SALUTE Coordinator. "This program has helped provide every day essentials at the most critical time to allow injured military personnel get back on their feet, which makes for a very rewarding experience."

Leading up to the marathon, runners on TEAM SALUTE can also participate in free training (CES or CARA options available) and receive coaching support. "The training programs are valuable, especially for our first-time runners," said Hussey, an RRCA Certified Adult Distance Running Coach. "Whether you're a first-time marathon runner or a seasoned pro, our coaches will create a program to ensure you're ready on race day."

Central to the team is the fundraising aspect. SALUTE, INC. will set up a personal fundraising web page for each individual. Once on the team, runners must raise a minimum of $1,500, which will be donated to SALUTE, INC. The donations will be used to help find solutions to the physical, emotional and financial obstacles that injured military personnel often face in transitioning back home.

Runners interested in joining TEAM SALUTE should contact Sue Hussey at 847-359-8811 or teamsalute@yahoo.com.
