St. Hugh of Lincoln concludes its 50th anniversary celebration with outdoor Eucharist, picnic

On Sunday, Sept. 10, St. Hugh of Lincoln Episcopal Church, 36W957 Highland Ave. in Elgin, is topping off a year of celebrations honoring the church's 50th anniversary with an outdoor Eucharist and picnic.

A 10:30 a.m. service will be held on the church grounds lead by Bishop Jeffrey Lee of the Chicago Diocese, assisted by St. Hugh Rector Marion Phipps. The service will feature the St. Hugh Choir and Band.

Afterward, an all-parish picnic lunch will be served followed by games for both children and adults.

During the picnic, music from the 1960s and '70s will be performed by Voices Classic.

Since its founding in 1967, St. Hugh of Lincoln has expanded from a church building with 20 original members to a congregation that fully utilizes an additional 3,000 square feet of space added in the late 1990s.

The members of St. Hugh are proud of its past and optimistic about the church's future mission in the Elgin area. For information, visit sthugh.net.
