DuPage Charity Serves over 2,200 Underprivileged Children for Christmas

After the conclusion of its annual Christmas Offering last month, the Humanitarian Service Project (HSP,) of DuPage County, has announced that it served 2,272 children, from over 1,100 local families in need, with gifts this holiday season. Additionally, 133 needy senior citizens received gifts, and holiday groceries were distributed to 540 low-income families through the program.

Each of the 2,272 children served by the program received a minimum of three gifts from the charity to celebrate Christmas. All children served by the program come from families in DuPage and Kane counties, who are suffering under the burden of poverty. The Christmas Offering program this year was the largest in the Carol Stream based charity's 37 year history, representing a 13% increase in the number of people served by the program in 2015 compared to 2014.

In response to results of the program, HSP's Executive Director Kristin Senne said, "I am very proud that HSP is able to continue to meet the rising needs of the people in our community that require our services. The outpouring of love from our donors, volunteers, and supporters makes this possible and brings tremendous joy and comfort to the seniors, children, and families we serve."
