Organizations to rally across Kane County to save essential services

Rallies to publicize the need to restore state funding for important social services will occur on Thursday, Sept. 24.

The demonstrations will urge local residents to contact their state representative and ask them to vote yes on Senate Bill 2046. The bill would restore state funding for essential mental health, developmental disability, early intervention and homeless services to local residents in need.

This demonstration coalition includes Association for Individual Development, Ecker Center for Mental Health, the Hesed House homeless shelter, local chapters of National Alliance on Mental Illness, and more that serve our most vulnerable citizens.

Rallies will be held at the following locations and times on Thursday, Sept. 24:

• 9:30 a.m.: 1230 N. Highland Ave., Aurora

• 11:30 a.m.: corner of Wilson and Route 31, Batavia

• 1:30 p.m.: Route 31, south of the state driver's license facility, 595 S. State St., Elgin
