CLC offers information sessions for adults returning to college

After a layoff from a job in corporate human resources, Aaron Wright of Round Lake Beach decided to enroll at the College of Lake County to study nursing. However, at age 36, he was concerned that he'd be the lone “older” student in a class full of 18-22-year-olds.

Instead of feeling out of place, Wright found a diverse mix of ages and life experiences. He also found a supportive atmosphere from both students and instructors. “CLC instructors are genuinely passionate about their work,” he said, adding that the college offers “a great value” for getting a degree. Current tuition and fees are $112 per credit hour.

To help other adults who are considering a second career or enrolling in college for the first time, CLC is offering a series of Adult Information Meetings prior to the spring 2014 semester, which starts Jan. 21, 2014. The meetings provide prospective students with information about getting started at CLC, financial aid/scholarships, and an overview of academic programs and available resources.

Meetings will be held from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on the following dates: Nov. 21 in Room T323, Dec. 4 in Room T323, Jan 7. in Room V122 at the Southlake Campus in Vernon Hills and Jan. 14 in Room A123. To sign up for a session, please call (847) 543-2090 or visit http://www.clcillinois.edu/adults.
