Waterleaf Restaurant Hosts Darioush Winery Dinner Oct. 17

Waterleaf restaurant in Glen Ellyn will host a Darioush Winery dinner on Wednesday, Oct. 17, which will feature select wines from this distinguished southern Napa Valley winery, including Viognier, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Following a 6:30 p.m. champagne reception, guests will enjoy an artfully prepared Waterleaf four-course prix fixe dinner at 7 p.m. paired with selections from Darioush Winery’s signature collection.

Menu items and wine pairings include: Prelude – Gravlax Cured Tuna, Papaya Salad, Melba Toast (2011 Darioush Winery Signature Viognier, Napa Valley, Calif.); Appetizer – Butter Poached Lobster Cassoulet, Andouille Sausage, Cannellini Beans and Clams (2010 Signature Darioush Chardonnay, Napa Valley, Calif.); Entrée – Sake and Mirin Braised Karubi Pork with Smoked Pomme Purée, Broccolini and Caramelized Baby Apple (2009 Signature Daioush Pinot Noir, Napa Valley, Calif., and 2009 Signature Darioush Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, Calif.); Dessert – Black Pepper Cheese Cake, Gingered Apple Wedges, Candied Citrus and Marscarpone Cheese and Apple Crisp.

Noted for its Bordeaux style estate wines, Darioush vineyard dedicates ninety-five acres planted to Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot, Malbac, Petit Verdot, Chardonnay and Viognier. The cooler southern Napa Valley locale allows Darioush’s harvest to ripen slowly, and by hand picking and hand sorting each grape cluster, proprietor Darioush Khaledi and winemaker Steve M. Devitt ensure that only the fully matured grapes are used in crafting Darioush small lot wines.

Waterleaf in Glen Ellyn features a contemporary approach to fine dining led by Executive Chef Jean-Louis Clerc. Known for its use of fresh, locally-grown, seasonal ingredients, Waterleaf restaurant in Glen Ellyn recently received a three-star review from Crain’s Chicago Business. In addition, the fine-dining restaurant has earned Diner’s Choice Awards for Best Ambience, Best Overall, Best Service, Fit for Foodies and Special Occasion on OpenTables.com, where it maintains a 4.6/5.0 rating.

Most recently, Waterleaf was one of just two first-year restaurants in DuPage County to receive a 2012 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence.
