Saturday's Fox Valley roundup

The South Elgin softball team split its two games Saturday at its own invitational, beating Rockford Boylan 5-4 and losing to Schaumburg 8-3.

Kara Rodriguez led the Storm offense against Boylan, going 2-for-3 with a home run and 3 RBI. Alyssa Krause, who had a double, and Sara Irving also had RBI.

Xenia Cerda picked up the win for the Storm and Sam Bolin earned the save.

In the loss to Schaumburg, Irving had a 2-run homer for the Storm (10-17), while Courtney Bosteder was 3-for-4. Bolin added a double and was the losing pitcher.

Jacobs 0-1-2 at Harlem: Jacobs lost to United Township 3-0, tied Rock Island Alleman 2-2 and lost to Harlem 6-4 at the Harlem Invitational. In the loss to UT, Amber Livingston (6-5) suffered the loss in the circle for the Golden Eagles. Marissa Lombardo went 2-for-2 at the plate. Lombardo pitched the tie game against Alleman. Jenna Teson was 2-for-3 and Kesley Woloszyk was 2-for-3 with 2 RBI. Then, in the loss to Harlem, Teson went 2-for-2, Lombardo 3-for-3 and Kara Arceneaux had a triple. Lombardo (10-5) suffered the loss in the circle for the Golden Eagles (16-10-1). Dundee-Crown also played at Harlem Saturday but no Chargers results were made available.

Marengo 11, Huntley 1: Class 3A power Marengo (30-3) downed Huntley in a nonconference game at Huntley. Randi Peterson had a double for the Red Raiders (17-10) and Arianna Albanese drove in a run. Hailey Hanson was the losing pitcher.

East Aurora 7, Elgin 6: The Maroons (10-22, 4-13) scored in the top of the eighth inning to take a 6-5 lead but then allowed 2 runs in the bottom of the inning and lost this Upstate Eight Conference game in Aurora. Elgin committed 11 errors in the game. Hannah Perryman had a 3-run home run for Elgin, while Jaclyn Navarro was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Samantha Doty also had 2 hits and Samantha Lehnert drove in a run. Perryman (9-9) suffered the loss in relief of Kelly Patchett.

Hampshire at LaSalle-Peru quad: The Whip-Purs (6-21) went 0-3 at the LaSalle-Peru, losing to L-P 5-0, Yorkville 12-3 and Joliet 13-3. Jennifer Hurst, Katelyn Bruscato and Amanda Wescher were Hampshire's losing pitchers. The Whips managed just 3 singles against L-P but then came back with 13 hits against Yorkville. Becca Vondraska had 3 hits with a double, while Chrstina Potempa, Hurst and Bruscato each had 2 hits. Grace Jakubowski added a double. Against Joliet, Jakubowski had 2 hits including a double, and Bruscato added 2 hits. Vondraska had a double for Hampshire.
