New kennels at Naperville's ADOPT Pet Shelter make for happier dogs

Thanks to the generosity of the Susan J. Stamler Estate, and grants from the DuPage Foundation and the Wanda Muntwyler Foundation, the dogs at ADOPT Pet Shelter in Naperville are getting a much better place to lay their heads while they wait for their forever homes.

Traditional dog kennels can be noisy and stressful for dogs, and the more modern designs recently installed by the shelter provide much needed privacy and sound reduction.

While ADOPT has long wanted to update their dog kennels, this costly renovation was just a dream until funds from the Susan J. Stamler Estate, the DuPage Foundation and the Wanda Muntwyler Foundation allowed them to make these dreams a reality.

ADOPT always hopes that their animals find their new homes quickly, but having the best temporary home possible is critical. When dogs are relaxed and comfortable they can be at their best when meeting prospective families, increasing their chances of being adopted.

Chris Stirn, the shelter's executive director, says that the shelter dogs have already moved in and are beyond excited with their new digs!

While ADOPT is still limiting shelter visitors due to COVID restrictions, they are hoping to be able to invite people to tour the updated kennels later this year.

Animals Deserving of Proper Treatment (ADOPT.) is a no-kill, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that has found homes for more than 20,000 pets. It provides a temporary, loving home for dogs and cats that no longer have a family of their own.

ADOPT Pet Shelter is located at 420 Industrial Drive, Naperville IL 60563.
