Lake Villa church hosts Wednesday, Sunday Lenten programs

Holy Cross Anglican Church in Lake Villa invites the community to attend Lenten programs Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings through April 8 at the church, 500 Park Ave., Suite 102, in Lake Villa.

The Lenten journey continues from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays until April 8. Each week includes a very short walk along the church's interior Way of the Cross, pausing briefly at each of 14 images depicting Jesus on the way to his crucifixion.

Each of the weeks introduces a variety of ways to pray, ranging from contemplating artwork to holding prayer stones to listening to spiritual music.

On Sundays, March 1 to April 5, there will be a Lent-themed Bible study at 11 a.m., following the 9:30 a.m. service and coffee social.

"Holy Cross is a friendly community, where people can take a break from a noisy world and find Jesus present through prayer, worship and fellowship," said Betsy Crist, senior warden. "We pray that, through this Lenten program, you will meet Jesus in a special way and discern his plans for your faith journey."

Holy Cross Anglican Church is affiliated with the Diocese of Pittsburgh in the Anglican Church in North America. The parish church and offices are in the brown, one-story, brick office park in Lake Villa, on the west side of Route 83 and about two blocks south of Grand Avenue.
