Holy Cross Anglican Church in Lake Villa offers new outdoor prayer box, continued Wednesday evening prayer

Looking for convenient ways to have others say prayers for you and your loved ones? Do your 2020 resolutions include growing spiritually by joining a local church?

Holy Cross Anglican Church in Lake Villa now offers two handy ways for community members to submit prayer requests. One is a new, red prayer box located at the church's entrance at 500 Park Ave., Suite 102 in Lake Villa. "There is no need to be a parishioner-simply open the box, pick up a pre-printed note, and jot down your request and place it inside an envelope that is provided," said the Rev. Ron McGowan, interim rector at Holy Cross. "You can request God's healing touch for a health or family issue, request a remembrance for a loved one who has died or you can simply offer a prayer of thanksgiving. The prayer request will be added to the list that is read at Sunday worship and on Wednesday evenings, and only first names are mentioned to honor privacy. Dogs and other house pets also can be added to the list."

Another way to submit prayer requests is on the church's revamped website at www.holycross-anglican.org.

"The new year is a time when many are seeking a worship community," Fr. McGowin said. "While the Anglican tradition is officially Protestant, it's also known as Via Media, the Middle Way, combining the best of Roman Catholicism (liturgy and tradition) and Protestantism (authority of Scripture and justification by faith). Interfaith couples will find a friendly home at Holy Cross."

Holy Cross Anglican Church is affiliated with the Diocese of Pittsburgh in the Anglican Church in North America. The parish church and offices are located in the brown, one-story brick office park in Lake Villa, on the west side of Illinois Rt. 83 and about two blocks south of Illinois Rt. 132 (Grand Ave.).
