Test your endurance at the annual Triathlon and Duathlon

Splash, pedal, dash or dash, pedal, dash at Schaumburg Park District's annual Triathlon and Duathlon.

Races begin at 6:30 a.m. July 28 at Meineke Recreation Center, 220 E. Weathersfield Way. Check-in, chip assignment and pick-up, and body-marking will start at 5:15 a.m.

The triathlon consists of a 400-meter swim, 12.8-mile bike ride and a 5K run. The duathlon consists of a 5K run, 12.8-mile bike ride and another 5K run. Races are chip-timed, include one transition area and end at Meineke Recreation Center. Several age divisions will be available for ages 15 and older.

"The triathlon and duathlon athletes demonstrate strength, courage and dedication," said Emily Silva, fitness supervisor. "Athletes put in tremendous amounts of training and it is amazing to see these strong individuals conquer their goals!"

ANSI helmets are required when biking. All participants will receive a technical T-shirt and finisher's medal.

Cost is $65 through July 25.

Entries are limited to the first 650 participants to register (triathlon and duathlon combined). Participants will register at Active.com. No refunds will be granted and entries are non-transferable.
