Clearbrook's Naturally Gifted open house set for April 11

Join Clearbrook on Thursday, April 11, from 5 to 7 p.m. for an open house to celebrate the launch of Naturally Gifted program, products, and store.

Clearbrook's Naturally Gifted is designed to offer vocational enrichment and hands-on vocational skills training for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Participants will follow a 12-week curriculum, which will integrate classroom learning, hands-on skill development, and community job shadowing.

Naturally Gifted is located at 6500 Northwest Hwy., Suite 2B, Crystal Lake. All guests will be able to see the Naturally Gifted store, purchase products and learn more about the program. RSVP to Fabiola Martinez at (847) 305-5073 or fmartinez@clearbrook.org.

Participants also will have access to job coaches as well as a job developer for individualized vocational development in tandem with the twelve-week curriculum. Classroom learning objectives include developing interpersonal skills, appropriate work behavior and relationships, gaining confidence and independence with employment, resume and interviewing skills, and maintaining necessary skills to succeed in employment. Hands-on skill development includes computer skills and resume building, vocational tasks (including laundry, janitorial, stocking, bagging, clerical, and customer service). Job shadowing in the community is designed to offer participants a visual learning experience in which they can learn about a variety of jobs, as well as the skills required to be successful. This curriculum and program will also provide integration for employment within the community.

Hours are: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday to Friday.
