CLC Theatre presents classic Greek drama 'Oedipus Rex'

The College of Lake County Theatre Department will present the Greek drama "Oedipus Rex" at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 1 and 2, and Thursday through Saturday, March 7-9; and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3. Additionally, a high-school matinee will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, March 8. Performances will be held in the Studio Theatre of the James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts on CLC's Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St., Grayslake.

While his city suffers from plague and ruin, Oedipus stands firm, a proud king who seems to have nothing to fear. Oedipus must solve the mystery of who murdered the previous king to save his city, and he is determined that no one will stand in his way. But in seeking the truth, his own worst nightmares come to light.

The CLC production is using a modern translation by Stephen Berg and Diskin Clay, which was hailed by The New York Times Book Review as "daring and experimental."

Tickets are available in person at the Box Office at (847) 543-2300 or www.clcillinois.edu/tickets, which also has discount information.
