Homeless service agency to host public board of directors meeting

PALATINE, Ill., (AUGUST 10, 2018) - JOURNEYS | The Road Home, a homeless service organization committed to individually assessing and serving the homeless and near-homeless in north/northwest suburban Cook County, is also committed to broadening awareness and involvement with those experiencing a housing crisis.

The organization will host its annual meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, and all are welcome to attend to learn more about its budget, objectives and future initiatives.

The meeting will take place in the agency's HOPE Day Center located at 1140 E. Northwest Highway, in Palatine. By day, this center provides more than 60 supportive services to individuals and families in the process of transitioning to housing stability, including long-term case management, crisis counseling, hot meals, showers and access to clothing.

The evening of the annual meeting, JOURNEYS' staff and board of directors will host interested attendants, answer questions and share exciting successes of housing clients and helping people in need to develop personally as well as professionally on their unique journey to stability.

The agency will also be recognizing the Volunteer of the Year in addition to honoring retiring emergency PADS shelter site directors. These include Virginia Blank of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights, Paul Brask of St. Mark Lutheran Church in Mount Prospect, Brian and Noreen Brodzik of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Des Plaines, Barb Psimoulis of First Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights and Suzanne Wexler of Kingswood United Methodist Church in Buffalo Grove.

JOURNEYS will also remember PADS site directors whom have passed away, including Ron Hulka of the Congregational United Church of Christ in Arlington Heights and Michael Robbins of St. James Catholic Church in Arlington Heights.

Light refreshments will be served starting at 6:30 p.m. In the event that parking needs exceed agency capacity, overflow parking will be available at the U.S. Postal Service building directly next door.
