April 10: CLC offers information session on human services, social work degrees and certificates

Interested in a career in human services and social work? Learn about the College of Lake County's associate degree and certificate programs in an information session Tuesday, April 10 at 6 p.m. in Room D129 on the Grayslake Campus, 19351 W. Washington St. Drop-ins are welcome.

The hour-long session provides an overview of programs, typical career paths and transfer options for students who plan to earn a bachelor's or graduate degrees. The session also will cover the steps to attain Illinois Certification Board accreditation to become a certified addictions counselor.

The human services program offers an Associate in Applied degree in five specialty areas in addition to five certificate options. The credentials prepare students for entry and middle-level positions in agencies and organizations offering services for children and adolescents, the developmentally disabled, seniors or people in need of treatment for alcohol and substance abuse.

The social work program is transfer-oriented, designed for students who plan to continue their education at a four-year college or university to earn a bachelor's or graduate degree.
