McHenry businesses partner up to bring a true vintage Cruise Night to life
Local McHenry business owners, Paul Letizia of Financial Dynamics, Inc, and Scott Dehn of McHenry Outdoor Theater are partnering up to bring McHenry and regional residents and event like no other.
The new Skyline Cruise Night (formerly Green Cruise Night) will be a stellar retro night out for the whole family.
In the past, the classic car show featured vintage cars, trucks and motorcycles, theme nights, food vendors and family games and entertainment. This year, with the move to the drive-in, Cruisers and onlookers will have enhanced parking space (the Outdoor Theater can hold up to about 900 cars at full capacity), a vendor show, live music and entertainment throughout the season, family games, a full food menu offered by the drive-in's own concession stand, and the option to follow the show with the nightly movie double feature.
American English, a local Beatles tribute band, will kick off the opening night on June 7. They are also looking to potentially add in a swap meet.
Many improvements are being made to the McHenry Outdoor Theater this year by both partied including a full new screen and painting of the tower, plus the paving of the perimeter of the drive-in to insure that classic car owners have a safe place to drive and park their cars to keep them in pristine condition.
The season will run every Monday, beginning June 7, and going through Oct. 11 (except for the Fourth of July and Labor Day weekends).
The season will wrap up with their time-honored "Trunk-or-Treat Night," where participants are encouraged to dress up, decorate their cars and bring goodies for the kids. Admission will be a $5 per carload for the cruise night, or, $20 per carload that will include the $5 for the cruise night, plus $15 for the movie double feature.
There also will be a weekly 50/50 raffle that will benefit four local community organizations.
