College of Lake County moves to alternative delivery model for learning

In response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, the College of Lake County will move its learning environment to alternative deliveries instead of in-person and cancel campus events through April 12.

"While there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 at the college, the college has taken these actions to uphold our part in the public health responsibility of containing and slowing the spread of the virus," CLC President Dr. Lori Suddick said. "Protecting the well-being of our students, employees and communities - while ensuring business continuity and high-quality learning - is our priority."

Starting March 16, 2020, the college will implement an alternative delivery model through April 12. This will limit on-campus activities to essential functions and shift most learning to flexible formats avoiding face-to-face interaction.

To maintain access and success for students, the college will shift to virtual support services including tutoring, advising and counseling to minimize the number of people on campus. Campuses will remain open to provide access to computers and internet for students who need it. CLC will implement social distancing practices in labs and computer spaces, as well as deep cleaning measures to maintain the health and safety of students.

"I encourage everyone to be flexible as we make these transitions in support of students and our faculty," Suddick added. "I am confident we can navigate emerging issues together in ways that can achieve the best outcomes for learning."

CLC will continue to monitor COVID-19 updates from the CDC, Illinois Department of Health and Lake County Health Department as we continue to navigate the best way serve our community and continue learning in the ongoing circumstances.
