CLC offers more than a dozen December events

From holiday choral and musical concerts to career information sessions, the College of Lake County presents more than a dozen December events open to the community. While some are free of charge and others have an admission fee, the sheer variety appeals to a wide range of ages and interests. All events are at the Grayslake Campus unless otherwise noted. Monday-Tuesday, Dec. 2-3: Auditions for "As You Like It," 6:30 p.m., Studio Theatre, James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts. Actors age 14 and above are invited; the play is CLC's winter production of the classic Shakespearean comedy.

Tuesday, Dec. 3:

--Massage Therapy career information session, noon-1 p.m., Smart Room R228, Southlake Campus, 1120 S. Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills.

--Engineering Transfer information session, 6-7 p.m., Baxter Innovation Lab (Room T120).

Wednesday, Dec. 4: Dental hygiene career information session, noon-1 p.m., dental materials lab (Room N135) at the Lakeshore Campus, 111 N. Genesee St., Waukegan.

Wednesday, Dec. 4: Starting your business in Illinois seminar, 5-7 p.m., Southlake Campus, 1120 S. Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills, Smart Room V328.

Friday, Dec. 6: Fall culinary festival, 5:30-7:30 p.m., Café Willow. Dine on student-prepared hors d'oeuvres and desserts to support scholarships. Beer, wine and a signature cocktail will be available for purchase with appropriate ID. 

Friday, Dec. 6: Free showing of internationally acclaimed film "Shoplifters," 7 p.m., Room C105. A 2018 Japanese drama film, "Shoplifters" is an award-winning, irresistible blend of tear-jerking family melodrama and journalistic social commentary.

Saturday, Dec. 7: Holiday Choral Concert, 4 p.m., Mainstage Theatre, James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts. More than 100 singers from four choirs will present a beautiful concert of holiday songs, ranging from classic to contemporary.

Sunday, Dec. 8: Wind Ensemble Holiday Concert, 4 p.m., Mainstage Theatre, James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts. The 50-member Wind Ensemble, an auditioned group comprising CLC students and community members, will perform challenging and beautiful music from both classical and contemporary composers, plus several holiday favorites.

Monday, Dec. 9: Health information technology career information session, 4:30-5:30 p.m., Room D209.

Monday, Dec. 9: Jazz Combos Winter Concert, 7:30 p.m., Room P101. CLC's jazz combos consist of community members and students. They play music in a variety of jazz styles, including swing, Latin, ballad and fusion.

Wednesday, Dec. 11: Concert Band Holiday Concert, 7:30 p.m., Mainstage Theatre, James Lumber Center for the Performing Arts. The 60-member Concert Band will perform a wide range of band music, from classic marches and symphonic pieces to Broadway medleys and film scores, including several festive holiday tunes.

Friday, Dec. 13: Semester Ends

Saturday, Dec. 14: Maker Week Build Day, 10 a.m., Baxter Innovation Lab, Room T121. Individuals, clubs or teams are welcome to use the Baxter Innovation Lab for meeting, brainstorming or fabricating.

Tuesday, Dec. 17: CLC Board of Trustees meeting, 6 p.m., Room C213.
