Waubonsie’s Singhsumalee second after first day

Waubonsie Valley’s Bing Singhsumalee shot a 70 to take second place after the first day of the Class AA girls golf state meet Friday.

Singhsumalee is 2 strokes behind Loyola’s Isabelle Kane. Neuqua Valley’s Jessica Yuen is tied for fourth at 73.

Hinsdale Central and Naperville North are the top local local teams entering Saturday’s final day. The Red Devils are fourth at 316, and the Huskies are seventh with a 326, 27 strokes behind first-place Loyola.

At the boys Class 2A tournament, St. Francis is the top DuPage County team, shooting a 323 for sixth place. Glenbard South is seventh at 326, and Montini is eighth at 328. Pontiac leads with a 312.

At the boys Class 3A tournament, Hinsdale Central is in first place by 7 strokes with a 295. Benet is third at 306 and Wheaton Warrenville South is 10th at 318.

Waubosie Valley’s Jason Marrs and Benet’s Matt Rogers are tied for third individually with a 70.
