Environmental defenders to host documentary showing

The Environmental Defenders of McHenry County, The Land Conservancy and the Lou Marchi Total Recycling Institute will co-sponsor a free showing of the 2007 documentary film, "The Unforeseen," at 7 p.m. Monday, July 27, at the McHenry County College auditorium, 8900 Route 14 in Crystal Lake. When development threatens a treasured spring-fed swimming hole in Texas, the community fights back.

From executive producers Terrence Malick and Robert Redford, and director Laura Dunn, this film won the 2008 Independent Spirit Award 'Truer than Fiction' prize.

An introduction to McHenry County's 2030 Plan will follow the film, along with a discussion of how it relates to the documentary.
