Benet hands Glenbard South first loss of season

Benet 10, Glenbard South 5: Nora McGuire hit a 3-run homer in a 5-run first inning, as the host Redwings handed No. 4 Glenbard South its first loss.

Maeve McGuire went 2-for-3, scored 2 runs and drove in a run for Benet (7-9). Jenny Wittenberg went 2-for-4 and scored 2 runs and losing pitcher Jane Trzaska went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Glenbard South (15-1).

Montini 8, St. Edward 2: Winning pitcher Lara Mangialardi (7-7) went 3-for-3 with a triple, scored 4 runs and had 4 RBI for Montini (7-11, 5-2 Suburban Christian Conference). Tori Shipbaugh went 3-for-4 with 4 RBI and 2 runs scored.

Lake Park 3, St. Charles East 0: Kelly Loy scattered 7 hits and struck out three for the No. 7 Lancers (14-3, 6-2 Upstate Eight Conference), who won their seventh straight.

Naperville Central 7, Glenbard East 0: Alyssa Wunderlich (7-3) struck out 10 in a 3-hitter for the host Redhawks (9-6, 3-0 DuPage Valley Conference). Kelsey Gonzalez and Katie Walker each smacked 2-run triples and Nicole Kappelman tripled and scored a run.

Downers Grove South 5, Morton 1: Danielle Trezzo homered twice and Marissa Mersch added a solo shot for the No. 5 Mustangs (12-1, 3-0 West Suburban Gold).
